The YMCA of Greater Syracuse is partnering with the Boilermaker Road Race to strengthen Central New York and to support the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

The Boilermaker, to be held July 14 in Utica, is one of the top road races in the world. This year, demand to enter the race was so great that it reached its 14,000 capacity in just three days.

The Boilermaker has provided the YMCA with 20 free "bibs" (entries) into the race as a way to help the Y raise money. Half of the proceeds will be donated to The One Fund Boston, a charity dedicated to helping those most affected by the Boston Marathon bombing. The other half will go to the YMCA's annual campaign, which provides financial aid to those in need, ensuring nobody is ever turned away from the Y.

Be among the first 20 people to pledge to donate or raise $500 and we'll reserve a Boilermaker bib for you. To start, or for more information, just contact Mara Roberts, Director of Individual Giving for the YMCA of Greater Syracuse.

You have until May 22 to claim your bib, and you'll have until June 19 to fulfill your pledge. To make it easier for you, we'll even give you a personal fundraising web page like this one that you can share with all your friends.

But wait, there are also prizes. In addition to a free entry to the Boilermaker, YMCA Charity Bib Winners will receive a YMCA of Greater Syracuse running jersey and be invited to join members of the YMCA of Greater Syracuse who are already running the race. There's no better way to have fun and make friends at the Boilermaker.

To encourage large donations, the Boilermaker is offering the following additional prizes to the top overall pledge gatherers:

1st prize — You win 5 years FREE registration for the Boilermaker, and the Y gets an additional $500 donation.

2nd prize — You win 2 years FREE registration for Boilermaker, and the Y gets an additional $250 donation.

3rd prize
— You win next year's Boilermaker registration FREE, and the Y gets an additional $100 donation.

Claim your bib now by contacting Mara Roberts, Director of Individual Giving for the YMCA of Greater Syracuse.

Questions about the YMCA-Boilermaker partnership should be directed to Mara Roberts.

More information about the Boilermaker itself is available on the Boilermaker Website.
