YMCA leaders honored for philanthropy

Three members of the YMCA of Greater Syracuse family will receive National Philanthropy Day honors from the Central New York Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The CNYAFP announced its top honorees Oct. 10. They are:

Susan Bertrand, Outstanding Philanthropist;
Susan is the founder and leader of Maureen's Hope, which is dedicated to helping people diagnosed with cancer and other life-altering diseases. Maureen's philanthropic work includes serving on the board dedicated to building the Northwest Family YMCA.

Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser
Maureen's philanthropic work includes serving on the boards of the North Area Family YMCA, and the Metro board of the YMCA of Greater Syracuse. She chairs the Metro Financial Development Committee and she serves on the Volunteers In Philanthropy Board and Volunteer Track Dean for the North American YMCA Development Association.




Hueber-Breuer Construction Company, Inc., Outstanding Corporate Philanthropist.
Hueber-Breuer has made numerous and significant donations of money and services in support of the YMCA of Greater Syracuse. Nate Podkaminer, an executive at Hueber-Breuer, serves as the chairman of the YMCA of Greater Syracuse Metropolitan Board.
