SAT/ACT Preparation Class
The YMCA of Greater Syracuse offers three SAT courses designed to help you meet your goal and tackle "problem areas" on the exam. Each course is taught by a qualified educator. Registration is required.
Reading, Writing and Language
Learn to navigate the Reading and Writing and Language sections of the redesigned SAT to maximize your score. Master the art of staying focused on the long reading passages. Discover strategies that lead you to the right answer choice every time.
The new SAT debuting March 2016 offers an optional essay section. This class will prepare you for the optional essay. We will go over strategies and practice analyzing passages and writing essays based on that analysis.
The YMCA's SAT Math Course is designed to maximize your SAT math score. The group classes incorporate review of the most commonly tested math concepts on the SAT, strategies for guessing and determining how best to approach questions in the calculator and non-calculator sections of the redesigned SAT. We will have breakout sessions for groups to work on the most challenging SAT math questions.
All students participating in the SAT Prep courses are asked to bring the following to the first class:
- The Official SAT Study Guide by Collegeboard
- 1ST EXAM IN STUDY GUIDE COMPLETED AND SCORED BEFORE THE FIRST CLASS
- Calculator (for math classes only)
Students may sign up at the East Area Family, Manlius or North Area Family YMCA. Registration closes one week prior to the first class.
All SAT Prep classes are held Sundays at either the North or Manlius branches. Exact dates and class times vary for each branch, so please consult the Program Guide, or contact Member Services for more information.
