Jennifer Hughes

Jennifer has been competing in triathlons, swimming and road races for more than three decades, starting with the Darien Lake triathlon in 1992. Since then, she has competed in more than 15 triathlons and has placed in several.

In 2009, she began leading triathlon training, with a focus on helping non-traditional athletes develop the confidence and strength they need to complete their first triathlons.

“That’s where I found my true passion for the sport of Triathlon,” Jennifer said. “I wanted other people to experience the amazing feeling of finishing a Triathlon.”

Jennifer is a Level I USAT Coach.


Mickey Piscitelli

Mickey is a Level I USAT Triathlon Coach, and a certified RRCA Running Coach. She currently leads indoor cycling classes and Total Body Strength & Conditioning classes at the North Area family YMCA.

Mickey has competed in triathlons since the 1990’s after building a solid base in running. She has completed over 25 marathons including 3 at Boston. Mickey also has competed in all triathlon race distances and is proud of being an Ironman.

She is retired from the full-time teaching of high school mathematics in the Liverpool School District and lives in Baldwinsville with her husband Pat who enjoys biking and running.

No one is too old to tri something new! No one is too out of shape to get into better shape!


Chris Read

Obtained Level I USA Triathlon certification in 2010 and has been a certified indoor group cycling instructor since 2005. Chris does triathlon coaching and leads indoor group cycling classes at the Downtown Syracuse YMCA. He also coaches with the South County “Tridents” in Southwest Florida during the winter months. He is the Director of the LIVESTRONG Green Lakes Triathlon.

Chris has competed in triathlons since the 1990’s and has finished Ironman Tris in Lake Placid and Florida. He has also completed numerous marathons and the 50k Green Lakes Endurance Run He was featured in the cover story “The Ultimate Sport-Triathlon” in the Aug/Sept 2010 issue of 55 PLUS magazine.

Chris is retired from National Grid and resides in Baldwinsville with his wife Susan.


Sam Sampere

Sam Sampere has been competing in running, cycling, and triathlons for nearly two decades, and has been coaching cyclists, runners, and triathletes for several years.

He has been coaching cycling classes at the Downtown YMCA for the past 3 years.

Sam is USAT Level I and USA Cycling Level 3 certified.




Elyssa Rosenbaum

After competing in gymnastics for nearly 18 years, Elyssa started running half marathons before getting involved in triathlons and has been hooked since her first finish in 2010.

She has finished 8 half marathons and 2 half-iron distance races. She has been coaching gymnastics for more than 10 years, and recently began coaching running as well.

When she is not training or coaching she is working towards a masters degree in Physical Education at Canisius College.
