Wellness Center
The Wellness Challenge is available to all participants and is a critical part of the games to ensure that you are focusing on your overall health and well-being.

While participation in team games like basketball and kickball is fun, so is living a long and healthy life! The Wellness Challenge will offer weekly meetings focusing on everything from healthy eating to staying on track and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Each branch will also offer organized fitness classes to keep you on your game.

Throughout the Wellness Challenge, points will be awarded for company participation in health assessments and meeting attendance, as well as completion of the wellness passport & weekly food logs. All Wellness Challenge points can be obtained at any of the YMCA of Greater Syracuse branches.
Weekly topics/discussion:

*Weekly Weigh ins at the beginning of every meeting.

  • Week 1 ABC of Healthy Eating
  • Week 2 5 Steps to I.C.A.R.E.
  • Week 3 STUFF YOUR FACE...with vegetables
  • Week 4 Go from Willpower 2 Skillpower
  • Week 5 Tackling Triggers!! (tips on how to overcome mindless eating)
  • Week 6 Social Side of Eating
  • Week 7 Looking Back & Moving Forward
  • Week 8 Staying on track & maintaining for LIFE

Point System:

*based on Employee Participation

< 19.9% = 5 pts.

20-39.9% = 10 pts.

40-59.9% = 15 pts.

60-79.9% = 20 pts.

80-100% = 25pts.

MAX Possible Pts. = 25

  • Initial assessment (body weight, body fat, blood pressure, RHR, and waist circumference)
  • Each meeting attended
  • Turning in a completed food log each week
  • Completed Passport
  • Final assessment (body weight, body fat, blood pressure, RHR, and waist circumference)

Topic meetings and weigh-in: Tuesdays 6:15pm-7:00pm

Organized fitness class: Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30pm-6:15pm

East & Southwest

Topic meeting, weigh-in and organized fitness classes are all-in-one:

Mondays and/or Wednesdays 5:30pm-6:30pm and Saturdays 9:00am


Topic meetings and weigh-in: Wednesdays 12:15pm - 12:45pm and/or 5:30pm - 6:00pm

Organized fitness class: Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:15pm-1:00pm and/or 5:30pm-6:15pm
